NY Times Gets Rick Rolled

Earlier this month I wrote about the odd Internet prank of "rick rolling," in which a link purported to be of a cool video clip actually sends the prankee to Rick Astley's 1987 No. 1 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up." 

On Monday, The New York Times ran an item on the phenomenon, describing a supposed real-life rick-roll. The paper said an Eastern Washington University women's basketball game was interrupted by an Astley impersonator singing the notorious ditty.

One problem: The YouTube video that served as the paper-of-record's anecdote was a fake -- created by an EWU student -- according to KHQ, the NBC affiliate in Spokane, Wash.
