The Tech CFO Shuffle
July 18, 2007
Did somebody officially declare July to be “Technology Company CFO Switch Month” and neglect to tell me?
In just the past few days:
• TiVo chief financial officer Steve Sordello left the digital-video-recorder vendor to become CFO of online professional network LinkedIn. Financial Leadership Group principal Cal Hoagland stepped in as interim CFO.
• Former Knology CFO Robert Mills, who had been serving as CFO of Tri-S Security, now sits in the CFO seat at broadband-equipment provider Vyyo.
• Interactive-TV vendor ICTV snapped up MarketTools VP of finance Christine Munson for its CFO post.
• Optical-transport-system vendor Aurora Networks hired Kenton D. Chow -- formerly of Azul Systems, Catena Networks, Sun Microsystems, Cobalt Networks, Symantec and Bay Networks -- as vice president and CFO.
• Donald Halsted left the CFO post at 3Com to take the same title with VoIP-switching-technologies provider Cedar Point Communications.
All of this on top of Discovery Communications’ move last month to name four CFOs across its key brands.
This might be it for DaveSpin. I think I’m going to log off, pull up Google and look for an online course on how to become a technology-company CFO in just one short week. There’s lots of money to be made out there, and I don’t intend to leave any of it on the table. Ciao. It’s been real.
