Hey Comcast, Where's SCI FI HD?
April 15, 2008

Multichannel reports that today Comcast added six more high-def channels to its roster here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The nation’s largest cable operator said the services are accessible through its Digital Starter HD service level and will appear throughout its San Francisco Bay cluster....

The operator launched Sci-Fi HD, Food Network HD, Animal HD, TLC HD, CNN HD and AMC HD on April 15, lifting its overall enhanced channel lineup to 36.

Being 17 miles north of the Golden Gate (in Marin County) presumably I'm part of that "San Francisco Bay Cluster."

SCI FI's Battlestar and Stargate Atlantis and AMC's Mad Men in HD!  Yeeeesssss!

My excitement was short-lived.

All the promised HD channels are live except SCI FI HD.   As of tonight, the SCI FI HD channel #736 remains "not authorized."

sigh.

In other news, I spotted more AT&T contractors in my area, readying the neighborhood for U-verse.  Click here for photos of the bucket truck checking the connection at the pole adjacent to my driveway.

UPDATE:  April 21.  I'm away from home at the moment but my husband happily called my cell to report that SCI FI HD is now activated.
