SCI FI Channel's Battlestar Press Kit: Sweet!
March 16, 2008

SCI FI Channel's press kit, heralding the arrival of the long-awaited fourth and final season of their critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica, arrived last week.

s4 kicks off with an episode entitled "He That Believeth In Me" which will air Friday, April 4, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

SCI FI issued the expected caveats. "You are one of the select few we are entrusting with a preview copy," states the network, referring to the DVD screener included in the packet.

There are admonitions about disclosing spoilers: "I'm sure you will concur that Battlestar Galactica is best enjoyed by your readers in spoiler-free environment.  They should be afforded the same opportunity to scream 'What the frak?!' at the television as you."

The DVD is "watermarked and numbered and is therefore trackable" says the network in conclusion, in red letters.

In other words, if the screener ends up on EBAY, I'm dead to SCI FI.

However, the pièce de résistance contained in the packet is a stunning, 16x20 limited edition, framed print of the Battlestar Galactica cast loosely re-configured as Leonardo Da Vinci's "Last Supper."

Just...wow!

Here's the graphic, soon to be enshrined in my office.  The print is a big, visual spoiler of sorts and contains hints of what will unfold in season four.  (Dualla, a long-time Battlestar crew member, is missing...Lee Adama is dressed as a civilian...hmmm.)  A couple of months ago, EW posted an interactive version of this graphic.

Da Vinci's "Last Supper" is a favorite television motif  - from The Sopranos to The Simpsons.

compiled by Popped Culture's Jeremy Barker in a post called "Suddenly Last Supper."
