(Via the NY Times):  San Diego Fire Department Chief Tracy Jarman told reporters that a Martin Mars water bomber ["the world's largest active propeller driven water bombers and the largest seaplanes ever to enter production"] was expected to arrive this afternoon to help put out the blazes. The huge seaplane has the capacity to drop 7,200 gallons of retardant or water.— WILL CARLESS in San Diego .

(Um, what took so long?)

Gaining traction on YouTube this morning, with five stars - a video of the water bomber taking off and delivering its load.
