Big Ten is a Big Deal
September 7, 2007

For some the Big Ten Network is a big deal,  for others the addition of the new sports channel has many saying "big deal!"

Last night Dish Network surprised customers by turning on the Big Ten Network. Immediately the online discussion forums lit up with sports fans and non sports fans alike.

Some are very happy that BTN is now on Dish, while others wondering how much their Dish Network bill is going to go up next year because of the addition of this one channel. Other Big Ten fans are upset that they will lose the network in early 2008 when the network will only be available to those who subscribe to Dish Networks America’s Top 100 Plus service and must reside in one of the 8 states that the Big Ten Network serves.

A Satellite Guy in Iraq

Today is a very special day for Robert (Bob) Nemitz of Manteno, Illinois. Today Bob will be returning home to his wife and daughter after spending the last year in Iraq serving us in the army.

Bob was not your normal soldier in the Army, he was a true satellite guy. Bob got tired of the spoon fed programming of the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network and decided he wanted to see what was “up there” for himself.

So Bob ordered himself a 90 centimeter satellite dish, a USB satellite tuner and had it sent to him in Iraq.

Bob was able to see a wide variety of satellites and a wide array of programming including Fox News and ESPN. He was also surprised by the number of in the clear High Definition satellite signals he could pick up from Iraq and noted that there were quite a few VOOM HD channels as well as Discovery Theater HD available.

I bet Bob’s roommates in his barrack were sorry to see him go.

Welcome home Bob, and thank you for your service.

Two Anniversaries Today!

Today I am celebrating two major anniversaries that I would like to share with you.

The first marks my one month anniversary here at MultiChannel.COM. When the folks from MultiChannel came to me and asked me to do this, how could I say no? I have been a longtime fan reader and subscriber to MultiChannel News and was honored when I was asked to be part of this amazing publication.

I am not a professional writer by any means and am still working hard to find my voice here. If there is something you would like to see here or would like to see me cover please use the comments feature here at MultiChannel.

Today is also another big anniversary for me as today I celebrate the 4th birthday of my popular website SatelliteGuys.US. I don’t want to turn this into an advertisement for my site, but I do want to thank everyone who has been reading my work over the past 4 years at SatelliteGuys and to all my new friends who have been reading my work here at MultiChannel.COM over the last month!

Have a great weekend everyone!
