Rogers: Game on For TV Everywhere

November 18, 2009

Up in the Great White North, Rogers Communications — Canada’s No. 1 cable operator — has kicked off a test of a TV Everywhere service (see Rogers To Launch ‘TV Everywhere’ In November).

The cable company yesterday (Nov. 17) launched Rogers On Demand Online “in private customer testing” and the service will be made available publicly near the end of this month, according to Rogers manager of corporate communications Carly Suppa. She declined to specify what content is available, saying details will be available when the service officially launches.

As described by Rogers senior vice president David Purdy at the Multichannel News/B&C OnScreen Media Summit last month, the operator will offer video content for no extra change to its 2.3 million subscribers from 15 networks, including Rogers-owned broadcaster Citytv and Rogers Sportsnet, A&E, Bio and G4 Canada.

In the U.S., Comcast is gearing up for a pre-Hanukkah launch of its On Demand Online service (see Comcast To Launch ‘On Demand Online’ In Early December).
