Cable Show 2011: SeaChange In Talks to Buy This Technology LLC

Chicago — SeaChange International, looking to add more muscle to its VOD advertising capabilities, has been in discussions about acquiring This Technology LLC, according to two sources.

At the Cable Show this week, the companies announced a partnership that combines SeaChange’s Infusion Advanced Advertising Platform with This Technology’s SpotLink software to let operators to use existing Internet ad servers for placement decisions for dynamic VOD ads (see SeaChange and This Technology Deliver Joint Ad Solution).

SeaChange and This Technology declined to comment.

New York-based This Technology earlier this year released SpotLink for free under an open-source license. The software connects broadband ad servers with any SCTE 130-compliant MSO system regardless of the campaign management system the operator is using (see Dynamic Ads to Get Free Kick).

Meanwhile, SeaChange itself is an acquisition target, with Arris exploring a takeover of the VOD and advertising systems firm (see SeaChange Responds To Report About Arris Takeover Talks).
