Digital TV Transition: It's a Snap!

October 17, 2008

The digital TV transition is now just four short months away, an event that will more or less snuff out analog television as we know it come Feb. 17, 2009.

And yet 9.6 million households — 8.4% of U.S. TV homes – have done nothing to ensure they’ll still be able to watch television programming, according to a Nielsen study released this week.

Cable operators have been reassuring subscribers that they won’t have to change a thing to continue getting analog signals (under the industry’s deal with the FCC, MSOs will distribute analog versions from must-carry broadcasters for three years).

But what about the cable-nevers? Piece of cake to get a DTV converter-box coupon, and hook all the gear up, right?

Here’s a helpful tutorial showing how, uh, easy it really is, courtesy of Fox’s Talkshow with Spike Feresten:

Tip o’ the hat to Light Reading’s Red Panda blogger for calling attention to this bit.
