September 17, 2009

Housewives Play Dress Up: Do You want to dress like Bravo’s “Real Housewives”? The network says it has made a deal with Royal Plush to create a line of apparel “inspired by the fashion and style of the ‘Real Housewives.’” Products will include denim, loungewear, activewear, handbags and accessories. Bravo’s also got a book in the works that goes behind the scenes with the ladies from Atlanta, New York, New Jersey and Orange County. Production has just begun on season three of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” which will air in 2010.

Sunny In Philadelphia, Live in New York: The cast of FX’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” put on a live show at New York’s Beacon Theater Wednesday night. I was in Chicago, but Gawker.com provides pictures and video of the evening’s festivities with Danny DeVito and the gang. “Sunny started its new season Thursday night at 10 p.m.

Beck Getting Bigger and Madder:
Fox News Channel’s lightening rod Glenn Beck gets even more exposure in the dreaded mainstream media. Beck is featured on the cover of the new Time magazine. The headline asks if the host is “Bad for America.”    Despite a boycott by some advertisers, he’s certainly been good for Fox News, with an audience that has topped 3 million viewers on some days.

Showtime Taps Spike Lee, De Niro: Talent continues to flock to the pay cable networks. Spike Lee and Robert De Niro are developing a drama series for Showtime, according to the Hollywood Reporter.  Their “Alphaville,” is described by the trade paper as an ensemble show set in New York’s tense East Village, where artists and musicians lived along side Puerto Rican and African American families during the 1980s.  Viewers of “Rent” and De Niro’s “Taxi Driver” are familiar with the neighborhood.
