AMC's Prisoner Escapes Nov. 15

September 29, 2009

Here comes “The Prisoner.”
AMC on Tuesday said it will be launching its new version of the British cult favorite “The Prisoner” on November 15.
The network is planning a unique schedule to air the six part miniseries, showing two episodes–at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.–over three consecutive nights.
The lead-in for “The Prisoner” will be a marathon of another cult hit, all three “Matrix” films. (The first installment was certainly more than a cult it, the sequels, less so.)
AMC is also streaming all 17 episodes of the original “The Prisoner”  series from the 1960s starring Patrick McGoohan on its website, www.amctv.com. Some cable operators are also offering the classic series via their on-demand systems.
With “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” receiving heaps of critical acclaim, AMC’s version of “The Prisoner” will be highly anticipated.
The new miniseries features Jim Caviezel as “Six,” the former secret agent who finds himself trapped in a surreal place. Ian McKellen plays Two, who runs the mysterious Village.

I really can’t envision anyone else besides Patrick McGoohan in the lead, but think I’ll give it a try.
