Scheduling Madness
The Sweet Sixteen vs. TNT’s Thursday Night NBA doubleheader.
Don’t get me wrong, I prefer pro ball to the college game. But c’mon.
As a sports and basketball fan, your dial has to be locked (mostly) on CBS for UConn-Purdue and Pitt-X in the early Thursday night window and Memphis-Mizzou and Duke-Nova late (not to mention March Madness on Demand to keep tabs on the game that’s not on in your region).
There is no disrespect intended here to the exalted DWade and his Heat going up against the Bulls in a game that has Eastern Conference playoff implications. I’m not watching (but I will hit the remote during commercial breaks and the highlights on SportsCenter).
Or for that matter, I’m willing to risk the wrath (not really) of the Big Cactus by missing his setting Suns as they try to hold off father time and hang onto their waning playoff life against Paul Allen’s Trailblazers in the drama network’s nightcap.
The battling billions in TV rights fees aside, tonight should be all (mostly) about the student athletes engaged in March Madness. I’ll check in later on their Nielsen GPAs, er GRPs.
