Stephen Colbert Humbles Kanye! Plus, San Francisco Sarah & Vinnie's Misinformed Blather
Last Tuesday, Stephen Colbert instructed Colbert Nation, his motley army of fans, to descend on iTunes en masse and buy A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All precisely at 2 p.m. PT, Wednesday, December 3.
Colbert was miffed that the Colbert Christmas iTunes ranking of #16 trailed Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreaks - especially since critics, claimed Colbert, had deemed A Colbert Christmas "the most significant thing to happen to Christmas since Jesus."
Dubbing his effort "Operation Humble Kanye," Colbert set out to top the notoriously egotistical Kanye West’s latest release.
Well, they did it!! Colbert Nation drove A Colbert Christmas into the top spots, beating out Kanye.
Oh, and word to misinformed San Francisco morning radio jocks Sarah and Vinnie (on Alice 97.3): this morning you blathered idiotically about Colbert and implied he was using his show to pump sales for personal gain. D’oh. Proceeds from A Colbert Christmas go to Feeding America, a non-profit that supports needy families.
Hey, Sarah and Vinnie - you sounded foolish. And, unless you happened to mention it after I got out of my car, I’m pretty sure you neglected to say that proceeds go to charity.
At any rate, here’s the vid of Colbert’s plea to fans, and his hilarious "voice of the generation" dismantling of Kanye.
