Stephen Colbert Winks at His 'Andromeda Strain' Mention

June 6, 2008

Last night on Comedy Central’s Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert had lots of fun winking at his brief mention on A&E’s mini-series Andromeda Strain.

Colbert said Andromeda Strain "chronicles the most dangerous menace to come from space since Alf."

The scripting for AS was so ludicrous at times it was laughable and the mini will certainly not qualify as the role of a lifetime for Eric McCormack, cast as newsman Jack Nash.  But mock conservative pundit Colbert noted one upside in his view:  the former Will and Grace star has "apparently been turned straight by the virus."

"Even during a fictional disaster threatening all of humanity, I’m #1!" puffed Colbert after airing the clip.
