Turner Broadcasting Closes TCA Cable Tour with All-Star Party

July 12, 2008

Last night, Turner Broadcasting organized an impressive bash for the final night (of the cable portion) of the TCA press tour.   The chilled buffet of seafood featured enormous shrimp and oysters on the half-shell, and the drinks poured freely at several bars.

The parties are always one of the best and most relaxed ways to mingle and chat with the talent and the producers.

I must say, Turner trucked in a semi-trailer of network talent.  The stars and producers of Raising The Bar, Leverage, The Closer, Saving Crace, Truth in Advertising, My Boys, The Bill Engvall Show, 10 Items or Less, House of Payne, Turner Classic Movies and CNN were in house.

Kyra Sedgwick, Holly Hunter, Timothy Hutton, Jane Kaczmarek, Tony Curtis, Steven Bochco, Dean Devin, Soledad O’Brien, John King and many others milled about.

Timothy Hutton, star of the upcoming (in December) TNT drama Leverage, was remarkably gracious and held court for hours near the back bar, gamely and sincerely answering every question put to him.

Unexpectedly, Holly Hunter’s publicist politely but firmly kept all press at bay, although Ms. Hunter - lovely in a pastel, full-skirted dress -  did stay for most of the party, chatting with acquaintances.

Here are a few photos of the party.  Turner publicity was kind enough to give me permission.  But I avoided snapping pics of the talent, in deference to Turner.
