Tin Man Beats Taken as Most-Watched Event in SCI FI History

,  SCI FI Channel’s re-imagining of the Wizard of Oz, concluded its three-evening, six-hour run last night,  officially surpassing Steven Spielberg’s Taken as the most-watched event in the network’s history .

During its primetime run (December 2-4 @ 9-11pm), Tin Man averaged a 3.6 HH rating/3.4 million HHs, delivering 5.3 million total viewers (P2+), more than 2.9 million viewers P25-54 and 2.7 million viewers P18-49.

Tin Man edged out SCI FI’s previous record holders – Taken  and Dune, 5.0 million and 4.6 million total average viewers, respectively.

The numbers could go higher.  The network supplied this caveat:

The above includes live plus same day info only.  Full DVR playback data should be available for the miniseries by end of December, which will further increase the project’s overall viewership totals.*

Also, per SCI FI’s press release, distributed a few moments ago:

The six-hour, three-night event drew an even 50-50 split among male and female viewers

Tin Man made SCI FI #1 in primetime (8-11pm) among all entertainment cable networks for all three nights of its broadcast – averaging more than 2.3 million P25-54s and more than 2.1 million P18-49s, beating the #2 network across the same three-day span by +77% and +40%, respectively.

Night 2 numbers were lower than Night 1, from 6.3 million total viewers down to 4.4 million.

But the numbers bounced back as 5 million total viewers returned for the conclusion on Night 3.   Again, per SCI FI’s press release:

NIGHT 3

Night 3 of Tin Man (December 4 @ 9-11pm) brought in a 3.5 HH rating/3.2 million HHs, delivering over 5 million total viewers (P2+), 2.7 million viewers P25-54 and 2.5 million viewers P18-49.  Night 3 of Tin Man was the #1 cable program for the day among P18-49s and P25-54s

 
NIGHT 2

Night 2 of Tin Man (December 3 @ 9-11pm) premiered to a 3.2 HH rating/2.9 million HHs, delivering 4.4 million total viewers (P2+), 2.4 million viewers P25-54 and more than 2.2 million viewers P18-49.*

Night 1 premiered to a 4.2 HH rating/3.93 million HHs and delivered more than 6.3 million total viewers (P2+), 3.8 million viewers P25-54 and 3.4 million viewers P18-49.

SCI FI will rebroadcast the miniseries, in its entirety, on Sunday, December 9 @ 5pm-11pm ET/PT.
