NYT Staffers Report Big Demand for Today's Edition

November 5, 2008

This in from tweetpeep Brian Stelter of the NYT:

brianstelter Per @davidseguin, an NYT colleague, "There’s 100 people in line downstairs on 40th, growing by the second, waiting for newspapers."

@silencematters: Hundreds line up
outside the New York Times building, awaiting a second delivery of newspapers

Click here to see a photo of the line.

brianstelter FYI, I’m hearing that we’re printing another 50,000 papers this afternoon for the P.M. rush.

ETA: Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan is reporting same in Chicago.

moryan RT @Suntimes Word on the street is that we sold out our press run today. We’re printing more now - should be out for evening commute. D

ETA: @brianstelter The line of newspaper-buyers is growing longer outside the building. When a truck delivered copies, the crowd cheered as 2 news crews filmed
