FX's Damages Said To Be Renewed
FX’s Damages, starring Glenn Close, has been renewed for 13 episodes, according to sources close to TV Guide critic Michael Ausiello.
The news comes from an exclusive posted on Ausiello’s blog.
States Ausiello:
Forget Frobisher. Patty Hewes just scored the most important win of her career.
Although an FX spokesperson is denying it, reliable sources are telling me that Damages has been picked up for a second, 13-episode season.
Ausiello says the news is “surprising” given the show’s “scary new low with last Tuesday’s episode. We’re talking less than a 1.0 in 18-49.” [either the October 2 or September 25 episode.]
But the cric also mentions the series’ lush DVR numbers. A discussion of DVR data for Damages can be found here on Multichannel.

When are the new episodes supposed to be released? I am a HUGE fan of the show and I can not wait.

I am a HUGE fan of this show; I think it's the best non-premium-channel series of all time. An absolutely brilliant and diabolical mindfk, with superb performances. It MUST be renewed, if there is any justice at all.

Hi All - yes, so many unanswered questions! I'm not sure how I feel about Patty Hewes sobbing at the grave side. Does anyone else think the infant death thing is a little OTT? Perhaps the writers have a mystery imbedded in this too but - mho - the writers are making a mistake by failing to sew-up storylines. Eventually, audiences get frustrated and start to drift away.
At least we know who shot Frobisher, heh? :) But is he really dead? I loved Ted Danson in this series, so I hope not. And Patty Hewes' conversation w/ the D.A. indicated that she set him up for even more trouble. Although, her animosity seems to know no bounds - it's beyond ambition - so the writers need to unravel the motivation here. MHO, of course! :)
FYI to everyone... subsequent to Michael's post (and he DOES have good contacts) - In a Monday morning conference call about a week ago, FX prez John Landgraf did not make the much expected renewal announcement but said he was "cautiously optimistic." Landgraf stated they were still working out details and reporters on the call interpreted this to mean financial details.
Nancy Gifford commented:
We are thrilled that Damages has been renewed. There were too many unanswered questions after Tuesday's show that need resolution. I am one of the DVR numbers. We cannot watch it on Tuesday, so family comes up and we watch is on Thursday, except for last week. We simply could not wait!

I watched the last episode of “Damages” last night and am thrilled that this slick, new series is being renewed. I have a question, thought. I thought that last night’s last episode made reference to a character off screen named “Paul Schupf.” Did anyone else catch this? If so, how did you think the name was spelled?
Thanks.
