The Best Commercials on Television, Airing Now

May 5, 2008

For your viewing pleasure - in case y’all missed them - here’s a sampling of some of the best commercials airing now.  These commercials are SR (skip-resistant).  Even if I’ve DVR’d a show, I rarely skip these three.  If the music is catchy, I crank up the sound.

The newest iPod ad, this time featuring "Shut Up and Let Me Go" by The Ting Tings:

The Travelers Insurance commercial, now that they’ve wrested the umbrella logo back from Citi.  (Salon says the history of the Travelers umbrella dates back to 1870.)

Gatorade’s "League of Clutch" features Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby.  This commercial started running about six weeks ago.  Like the Target ads, Gatorade frequently hits the bulls eye too, but the future is in doubt.  In mid-April, PepsiCo shifted the Gatorade account from Element 79 to TBWA\Chiat\Day.  (Both shops are part of Omnicom Group.)
