Veronica Mars Fans Manipulate E! Online Poll
Another kerfluffle (commotion, controversy) erupted on the Internet last week.
Some Veronica Mars fans will go to almost any lengths to rescue their beloved show. How desperate are they? Apparently so desperate to push VM to the top of E! Online’s annual Save One Show poll, saveveronicamars.tv created a webpage to teach true blue viewers how to game the E! Online system by manipulating Firefox.
Saveveronicamars.tv admonished users: “do not post this on any other site!!!!” which of course was chum to the sharks. Some fans were up in arms about the ethical lapse. The instructions were eventually deleted but not before the page image was vengefully captured and posted on imageshack for posterity.
Saveveronicamars.tv helpfully recommended that users conduct a “mental check” before engaging in the practice of poll-rigging. Then, proving that the double standard is alive and well, they added at the bottom of the page, “Linking to this site is welcome. Stealing, plagiarizing, and pagejacking are prohibited.”
Noting an unusual voting pattern but probably oblivious to the behind-the-scenes machinations, E! Online announced that for the first time in the history of the “record breaking” poll, two series - Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls - would share the distinction as the Show to Save.

i think people should grow up and quit acting like they are in kindergarden. if you have to cheat to win, what have you gained?
Mr. Steven Brickert, Sr. commented:
The Executives are now alerted and aware of this and shall disregard any Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls entries in any such polls as disqualified and shall eliminated them and observe the other show(s) in the list in their stead.

I Love Veronica Mars, and Yes! I would go to any length to save it. I don't think this is news, the real news is that we LOVE the show, and we want it RENEWED! they cancelled gilmore girls even after it won. So we need all the help we can get to save this wonderful show. VIVA VERONICA MARS!

it was an online poll.
Those things are done for fun not for any semblance of accuracy.

You should BOTH check your facts. Yes, it was originally posted by VM fans. Yes, the GG fans used it as well. 4 of us personally emailed Kristin as to what was legal or not. None of us received an answer. No where was it posted on the site that you could not vote multiple times. There was NO CHEATING because there were NO RULES. So chill out there "Fast Check", and learn to do a little research before you put your foot in your mouth... lol
Fact Check commented:
You should check your facts, it was gilmore girl fans who manipulated the poll. Kristin says that in the last 24 hours gilmore girls shot up from third place to first place. That means gilmore girls went from less than 950,000 votes to 2.2 million in less than 24 hours while veronica mars was the steady front runner until the last 24 hours.
The fact that some obscure (3rd page of google results when searching for "veronica mars") website explained how to the cheat the system is irrelevant when there are no facts to suggest that cheating was done on behalf of veronica mars.
