G4 & MOJO Heroes Acquisition = Pricey?

October 11, 2007

NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution has sold NBC’ hit series Heroes to cable nets G4 and MOJO - which makes sense.

According to the press release, Heroes is television’s No. 1 drama with men 18-34.

Comcast-owned G4 targets the male 18-34 demo and the channel covers gaming, technology, animation, interactivity, and “Internet culture.”   G4 is well known for their extensive coverage of Comic-Con.

MOJO is a Comcast/Cox/Time Warner-owned HD Channel created “exclusively for the discerning upscale male,” according to the release. (Go here for a recent assessment of Mojo.)

Heroes had been repurposed for a time on NBC Universal’s SCI FI Channel. But according to this report, the deal only included the first 13 episodes.

It’s probably a given that MOJO and G4 paid a premium for Heroes, a series laden with those advertiser-coveted young males.
