Mary McNamara
Posted by Mary McNamara on March 11, 2009

I’m sitting here watching and tweeting American Idol when this cool Visa ad pops up on my television screen in big, bright psychedelic colors. The music is Moody Blues’ “Tuesday Afternoon.” Fun In fact, Visa recently released another inspiring ad called “Let’s Go.” (That’s Morgan Freeman in the voice over set to Smashing Pumpkins’ ...... It's 3:00 p.m. and My Comcast Email Just Crashed

Posted by Mary McNamara on March 10, 2009

Uh, oh. My Comcast email went ka-boom about 30 minutes ago. Suddenly, the Comcast system started asking for my email passwords. But, when I entered the passwords, nothing happened. Apparently, the system no longer recognizes my log in information. So, I hopped over to Comcast webmail, but webmail wasn’t functioning either. Finally, after about 30 minutes of total wait time, a very nice ...... Read More

AMC's 'Breaking Bad' Returns With A Vengeance

Mary McNamara
Posted by Mary McNamara on March 5, 2009

This Sunday at 10p, season two of AMC’s Breaking Bad starts off in black and white, for the first time. Ominously, a surreal eyeball and a burned, stuffed teddy bear float lazily in a backyard pool. My husband and I looked at each other and went “Uh. Oh!” We’re not exactly sure where Breaking Bad is headed this season, but it’s immediately apparent that the tens ...... Read More

Mary McNamara
Posted by Mary McNamara on March 5, 2009

uh, oh - this message was left on my blog sometime today. Did Wikipedia spoil the winner of America’s Best Dance Crew, Season Three - which airs tonight? The post, by someone named Dom, says he (she?) spotted a Wikipedia update which declared that Quest crew won the competition. The reason this post seems legit to me: the same thing happened last season. I noticed then that results were p ...... Read More

You’ve been warned On air and social media, the consensus quickly developed that President Obama’s speech was a resounding success. On air, CNN analyst David Gergen called the s ...... Read More

An obvious truth the ad industry never seems to fully grasp: if all ads were this entertaining, viewers wouldn’t fast forward. In fact, they might watch twice. Case in point: the latest in Hulu’s “alien evil plot” series, this time with Eliza Dushku, star of Fox Network’s Dollhouse. In leather! (Enjoy her strut across the set as she hands off a crossbow and str ...... Read More

CNBC's Rick Santelli Compares Mortgage Bailout to Cuba

Mary McNamara
Posted by Mary McNamara on February 19, 2009

Rick Santelli, CNBC’s colorful on-air editor reporting from the Chicago Board of Trade, mouthed off this morning about the mortgage bailout. At one point he compared the bailout to the Cuban revolution. (And Twitter was all aflutter about it, too.) Said Santelli: “The government is promoting bad behavior….Cuba used to have mansions and a relatively decent economy. They moved ...... Read More

Mary McNamara
Posted by Mary McNamara on February 18, 2009

In case you missed Conan last night, Stephen Colbert laid down the gauntlet. O’Brien and Colbert are “feuding” after Colbert “stole” the invisible strings O’Brien uses for his “string dance” moves. Yesterday, in a surprise appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Colbert “sneaked” onto the set and the two hosts ba ...... Read More
