Here We Go Again!
Without even 24 hours going by since Dish Network reached an agreement with Young Broadcasting to add the Young Broadcasting channels to the Dish Network lineup word is out about another programming dispute once again involving Dish Network.
This time the dispute is between Dish Network and the folks at Communication Corporation of America. (Or better known as ComCorp.)
According to website of ComCorp owned station KADN of Louisiana “Our station is requesting less than 2 cents per day from the 6 dollars you already pay Dish Network. If they drop KADN, you should request a refund from Dish Network, or consider cancelling (sp) Dish and subscribe to an alternative provider.”
Two cents per day per customer is double the amount wanted by Young Broadcasting in their dispute last week. I don’t see Dish giving in to ComCorp’s demands.
ComCorp owns a number of stations in Texas, Louisiana and Indiana.. Comcorp’s headquarters are in located in Lafayette, Louisiana.
With the end of the year approaching I have a feeling this won’t be the last programming dispute for Dish Network in 2008.
Wall Street Likes Liberty Media Spin-off
It seems like Wall Street liked the news that Liberty Medias Board agreed to spin-off DirecTV and several other properties as Liberty Entertainment Inc.
The Liberty Media trading stock known as “LMDIA” was up over 24% or $3.14 to cose at $16.10.
The new spin-off company will hold 52 percent of The DirecTV Group Inc., 100% of Fun Technologies, 50 percent of GSN LLC and 100% of Liberty Sports Holdings LLC. Not included in the spin-off is Starz Entertainment.
DirecTV’s stock also rose 4 cents to close at $22.98.
With all that has been happening at DirecTV the past few weeks, I can’t help but wonder if Liberty is getting DirecTV all lined up and ready for a sale. Only time will tell I guess.
