Music fans are in for a special treat this weekend as DirecTV presents the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival this weekend, exclusively on DirecTV’s 101 Network.

The event will be broadcast to DirecTV customers is full high definition with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

The broadcast emanating from Austin, Texas starts on Saturday and will be hosted the musical encyclopedia himself Matt Pinfield and Robin Dorian. The SXSW broadcast will take viewers through two full days of live performances and festival coverage.

The SXSW event will present some of the music industry’s biggest trendsetters and up and comers. Performers include The Airborne Toxic Event, Ben Harper and Relentless7, Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters, Carlene Carter, Ed Harcourt, Echo and the Bunnymen, among others.

The city of Austin will turn into Music City for the weekend events. With over a hundred concerts going on all over the city.

According to a press release by DirecTV, the DirecTV broadcasts will originate from venues such as The Bat Bar and Lonestar Lounge. Both venues have been constructed from the ground up to host the exclusive SXSW Live performances on DirecTV.

For many of these performers it will be their first national exposure on television. Last years SXSW event presented rising superstars such as Katy Perry and Dizzee Rascal.

Are you SIRIUS?

Has anyone looked at the stock price of Sirius XM lately? The day started with the stock over 40 cents a share. That is some amazing growth considering that just a little over a month ago shares of the satellite radio company plunged down to 5 cents a share!

Can you imagine if you purchased just $500 worth of Sirius XM stock at 5 cents last month? Those 10,000 shares of stock you purchased at 5 cents a share which would have been worth an amazing $4,000 today! Not a bad investment!

Since it appears that the majority of financial issues are behind the satellite radio company now, I can only imagine that as time goes on the stock will become worth more and more.

Those lucky investors who got in at 5 cents a share probably have a huge smile on their faces now. I can only imagine how big of a grin they might have a year from now.

Too bad I am not a stock guy, besides my 401k I have nothing invested in the stock market. But I am now kicking myself for not getting in the game at a nickel.

SXSW is over. Directv\’s broadcasts were taped at SXSW last weekend. most, if not all of the performances have been on the web for days now. it\’s not live (as is implied), and it\’s certainly not exclusive.

meanwhile, I\’m glad you have nothing invested in the stock market. as someone who it seems makes his living commenting on the goings on in the satellite world, you\’d be far less credible if you had anything invested in anything you covered…
