Tennis is Served
You might have ate a lot over the long weekend, but if you a fan of Tennis then satellite will give you more tennis to feast on. Both Dish Network and DirecTV are offering Tennis fans enhanced coverage of The French Open all week long.
Both Dish and DirecTV will be offering their customers a 6 screen interactive mosaic letting fans watch any of the live matches with the push of a button on the remote.
Dish Network customers can tune into Dish Home on channel 100 for coverage of the event, and DirecTV customers can tune in to channels 701 – 707.
Both providers will also offer coverage of matches in High Definition. So if you’re a Tennis fan satellite has you covered this week!
Echostar Scores first VIP-TV Customer
It was once said in the popular movie Field of Dreams “if you build it, they will come.” Well the folks at Echostar have built it and today it was announced that the customers are coming.
Today Echostar announced that it h as signed up its first customer for its new VIP-TV service. That customer is Canby Telcom who is a telecommunications provider serving 8,000 customers in Oregon.
With the addition of Echostar’s VIP-TV Canby Telcom will be able to offer its customers a competitive triple play service with a bundle of broadband Internet, telephone service and digital television services.
Echostar’s VIP-TV service can deliver 250 channels of MPEG-4 encoded IP streams including over 40 high definition channels from a satellite located at the 85-degree orbital location.
I would expect more announcements like this over the next few weeks as Echostar’s main competition SES Americom’s IP-Prime service announced earlier this year that it was ceasing it’s IP video transport service on July 31st of this year.
Dave Matthews To Rock Sirius XM
Today I got an email from Sirius XM which could have fans of the Dave Matthews Band excited.
Dave Matthews and his band will be hosting their own channel on Sirius XM playing nothing but their music for a solid week.
In addition Dave Matthews Band Radio will present a different recorded live concert each night at 9:00 PM ET.
Dave Matthews Band Radio is being launched to celebrate the release of the bands first album in four years titles “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King” which is being released in stores on June 2nd.
I am not a big fan of single artists channels (especially after the last time their aired ABBA Radio… I am finally getting the song Mama Mia out of my head) but this is only a week long event and there are a lot of Dave Matthews fans out there who are going to love this very special presentation.

The lack of grade school grammar and spelling reflects on one's overall credibility

Scott, Please disable comments. It's amazing that people post comments just to point out a grammar or spelling mistake while not commenting on the article. That's what is truly amazing lil Johnny.
Thanks for the news Scott!
