Good News for Sirius XM / DirecTV Free Preview
Satellite radio fans who own iPhone appear to have gone good news coming their way tomorrow. It appears that tomorrow Sirius XM will finally release the long awaited official Sirius XM iPhone application.
While not officially confirmed by Sirius XM, emails from Sirius XM customer support seem to indicate that the release of the long awaited software is indeed tomorrow.
Here is a copy of the email being sent by support –
“Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding whether or not there is a SIRIUS iPhone application available. We are here to help! We appreciate the time you have taken to contact us in regards to this matter! We are happy to inform you that beginning June 18th a SIRIUS Internet Radio application will be available at the Apple iTunes App-Store for the iPhone and the iPod Touch! All Premium SIRIUS Internet Radio subscribers will be able to download the application from the Apple iTunes App-Store for free on their device and access the service at no additional cost! Subscribers who are listening to the Basic Online Service for free must first upgrade to the Premium Online Service for $2.99 per month to access the application on the iPhone or iPod Touch.”
The official Sirius XM application has been one of the most anticipated software releases for the iPhone outside of the Slingplayer application. A few commercial programs such as ooTunes, Pocket Tunes and Wunder Radio have been able to stream audio from Sirius XM for months however the applications never really caught on due to the cost and the clunky interface needed to listen to Sirius XM. With the official Sirius XM app it will be as easy as clicking the app and selecting the station you want to listen to.
So if you’re a satellite radio and iPhone owner I would do two things, first I would upgrade to the new 3.0 software released today and then tomorrow I would download and install the official Sirius XM application.
DirecTV Free Preview
It might be a nice weekend ahead outside, but I have a feeling many DirecTV customers will be inside this weekend watching the free DirecTV Premier package preview.
This special Premiere Preview is to celebrate DirecTV’s 15th anniversary and will include 265 channels of DirecTV programming including HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax and the SportsPack.
It might be worth tuning into HBO along for a reply of the Joe Buck Live show just to catch Artie Lange’s tirade that has got him banned from being on another HBO Sports Show. Sure Artie might have used some colorful language but he gave his true feelings and thoughts and you can’t fault him for that.
The DirecTV Premiere Package Free Preview runs Thursday through Monday Morning.
