Mondays Thoughts
What a game last night, the people of New Orleans finally have something to cheer! I didn’t think last nights commercials were all that, companies paid $3 million dollars for their ads and I could only remember about 3 or 4 companies that advertised last night. Sure I remember all the ads but I can’t remember who they were for. How sad is that.
One I do remember is Flo TV which peeked my interest with its mobile television service. I went to their website and see that they offer streaming to cell phones, and they also offer a device that lets you enjoy their service on your in vehicle entertainment center as well. I happen to have two 7 inch screens in my truck, I wonder how good the PQ looks on a 7 inch screen, when it appears the video is formatted or tiny cell phone screens. Anyone in the Connecticut area know where I can check one of these out in person? I have a feeling that Mobile Video will grow in acceptance rather quickly.
If your a tech nut like me then you might want to tune in to tonight’s Tech Chat which will air on Dish Network channel 101 at 9PM Eastern Time. The Tech Chat is hosted by Mark Jackson and Dan Minnick from Echostar who will dazzle us with their latest electronic goodies.
Tonight’s show will feature a look at last months Consumer Electronics Show, and we will get to see many cool new gadgets which were introduced at the show. The Tech Chat will feature a tour of the Sling booth at CES and we will see the new Sling Products which DISH hopes to launch the first half of this year.
Tonight’s Tech Chat will also feature a in depth look at all the features of the new DISH Network remote scheduler application for the iPhone. And of course Mark and Dan will find some time to take viewers questions on the air.
Again the Tech Chat will air live tonight at 9PM on DISH Network channel 101.
On Friday’s Edition of “The Satellite Dish” I told you how one programmer has been going around saying that the C Band 4DTV subscription service would be going away at the end of the year.
I got to talk with Mike Kohl from Skyvision on the national “Sat Chat” radio show on Friday night who once again said that Motorola has not told them or other programmers about any plans to discontinue consumer 4DTV service, and added that it’s “business as usual” for Skyvision.
So one can only wonder what the reasoning is for NPS trying to push its C Band customers to DISH Network. If I had to guess I would say follow the money trail.
