To Tell The Truth

March 12, 2010

The war of words is heating up between DISH Network and DIRECTV. After it’s failed attempt to stop DISH Network from running it “Why Would You Ever Pay More?” campaign in the courts, DIRECTV is getting ready to strike back with its own ad campaign called “To Tell The Truth.”

The ads are based on the old game show To Tell The Truth and features long time game show host Alex Trebek. (There is another name DISH can add to its paid celebrity endorsement list.) who pits contestants against each other to find out who’s telling the truth.

DIRECTV's New Ad Campaign

In these ads the contestants are the cable company, DIRECTV and DISH Network. Each of them says a line and the “judges” need to pick out who is telling the truth.

There has been so much back and forth and miss information from all of the companies over the past years that DIRECTV and DISH Network could run ads like this taking shots at each other for years.

I am looking forward to seeing more of this series and seeing how DISH Network and the cable companies fight back.

It’s Almost Here

Last year at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show, the folks at Echostar and DISH Network wowed the tech world by announcing the Slingloaded ViP 922 DVR.

Since its announcement techies from around the country have been waiting for the release of what some call the dream box.

The 922 is the next generation of DISH Network DVR’s and are made by Echostar. The 922 features a new exciting user interface and full HD graphics, and is the first receiver to feature “TV Everywhere” with a HD Slingbox built right into the receiver. The 922 will allow DISH Network customers to watch live and recorded shows from their receiver everywhere via the internet and also on a variety of Smartphones.

Good news was announced on Monday nights “Charlie Chat” as it was announced that the long awaited receivers would be made available to distributors on April 1st and then would start rolling out and made available to DISH customers a week or two after that date.

For those who have waited so long for this receiver, I am happy to report that the wait is almost over.

Have a great weekend everyone!
