Versus Returns to DIRECTV

March 15, 2010

Sports fans rejoice, today DIRECTV and the Comcast owned channel have come to terms which has returned the popular sports channel back to the DIRECTV Lineup.

Versus was removed from the DIRECTV lineup at the beginning of September after the contract with Versus expired at the end of August. The fight was over the fact that DIRECTV wanted to move the popular sports channel into its “sports pack.”

The sports pack consists of more then 35 sports channels including ESPN, Classic, Fox Soccer Channel, CBS College Sports, GolTV and many more popular sports channel. The move would have taken the channel off of the popular Choice Xtra package which would have removed the channel from millions of DIRECTV viewers eyes.

“We are pleased that both sides were able to work out a satisfactory deal to bring this programming back to our customers,” said Derek Chang, executive vice president, Content Strategy and Development, DIRECTV

Sports fans can already be heard rejoicing on the satellite forums, as the return of Versus is in time for the end of the NHL season and for Versus first ever live UFC event.

While details of the deal were not announced it appeared that VERUS won this dispute as the channel is being returned to the packages it was available in before it was removed from the DIRECTV lineup.

Versus and Versus HD will be back on DIRECTV tonight by 7PM EST.

Enjoy sports fans!
