Election Day
Today is Election Day, so get out there and vote! In the satellite world its already an interesting day in the election world.
With a free to air satellite receiver and a KU band satellite dish there are already dozens of election “wild feeds” up there. This morning I was able to watch Barack Obama, Sarah Palin and Joe Biden all cast their vote live.
Tonight as results come in there is expected to be hundreds of wild feeds with all kinds of election results from around the country, plus the wild feeds will take you live inside some of the biggest victory parties known to man.
And if you are familiar with satellite wild feeds you also never know what you might just see or hear. For many satellite dish heads tonight will be like a holiday to them, and I can imagine a number of them will be rolling tape typing to find some true gems that normal people are not supposed to see.
Dish Network and DirecTV will be offering interactive election coverage tonight for their customers.
DirecTV’s coverage starts tonight at 7pm Eastern Time on channels 102 and a special HD version on channel 352. DirecTV’s interactive offering will offer each of the four networks plus CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and an alternating feed of Comedy Central and BBC America. DirecTV’s coverage will stay running until 6am or until a true winner is determined. (Lets hope there is no repeat of the 2000 election.)
Dish Networks interactive election coverage includes video coverage from 6 cable networks, those networks are Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Headline News, CSPAN and CSAPN 2.
So tonight you can site home in your EZ chair and monitor the election results easily from your EZ chair. And if your daring you might just be scanning the skies searching for those wild feeds. No matter what you do once again please remember to get out and vote!
The NBA League Pass Mystery Continues
There is still no official word on what’s going on with the NBA League Pass on Dish Network. Customers are still not able to order the package from Dish Network CSR’s and in addition the listing for NBA League Pass on Dish Network’s website now reads “Check back here next season to order NBA League Pass.”
While Dish has been airing a free preview on the NBA League Pass they have not carried a single NBA game this season in HD, while DirecTV on the other hand has offered most NBA games in HD on it’s NBA League Pass channels.
** UPDATE 1:45PM ET ** Dish Network has removed the "Check back here next season to order NBA League Pass" from http://www.dishnetwork.com/packages/ppv/sports/basketball/default.aspx and has replaced it with "We are currently working quickly and aggressively with the NBA to have the League Pass package available soon."
