There was a surprise hidden inside this months edition of Dish Entertainment Magazine, the monthly subscription printed guide for Dish Network subscribers.
On the News & Views page in big bold letters it announces "Nine New Channels Expand DISH Network PPV in HD"
Below a short article mentions that Dish Network will add nine new Pay-Per-View HD movie channels on September 12th. The new HD Channels will be on 531, 534-537, 540-542 in addition channel 539 will mirror Dish Networks already exisiting HD PPV channel which is currently found on channel 9467.
These channels have yet to be officially announced by Dish Network and below the article it is noted "Date and availability subject to change."

DirecTV to Serve Up More U.S. Open
If you love tennis then you’re going to love what DirecTV has coming next week. DirecTV in association with USA Network will be giving its customers more the 300 hours of U.S. Open coverage, more U.S. Open coverage than any other provider.
In addition DirecTV will be offering its customers a special U.S. Open MIX channel, showing six screens from the U.S. Open, including live coverage from matches plus coverage from USA Network. The U.S. Open Mix channel will introduce new interactive features for its expanded coverage, including “Matches on Now” and “Matches on Later,” which will list what’s on and what’s still to come.
DirecTV’s coverage of the US Open will begin on August 27.
Are You Ready For DirecTV’s New HD?
There is a change in the air — can you feel it? Perhaps it’s from the joy (or sadness) from the kids who are about to head back to school. Perhaps it’s the change in the temperature outside as we start heading for fall. Or maybe it’s the excitement that high definition fans are feeling knowing that soon they will be watching a lot more TV in HD.
Last Wednesday, Echostar’s Dish Network kicked off what I believe is the first of a few HD launches that we will see this year to combat its archrival, DirecTV.
DirecTV however is not taking the incoming shots from Dish Network laying down. Instead, it is telling its HD army (i.e. customers) to get ready as more HD is coming.
Earlier this week many DirecTV HD customers with DVR service from DirecTV found a video recorded on their DVR telling them what they will need to enjoy all the new HD coming this fall. While many customers should be ready to go, others will need a new “Slimline” 5 LNB dish, while others may need special “B-Band Converters” to enjoy the new signals.
If you are not sure if your DirecTV setup is ready for all the new HD you can view this video on your DVR, you can tune to DirecTV channel 77 or you can visit http://www.directv.com/hdcheck for more information.
No matter who your provider is, you can be assured that you will be seeing a lot more HD this fall.

New PPV in HD is nice, but since you can't archive them, I am not that thrilled about it.
Still hoping that the "more channels to come in September" includes some more nationals; hope about some more HBO HD feeds. That would be nice.

It will be interested to see how many people find a complaint about the nine new channels. Hopefully they will not be in HD Lite. If they are, look out for the complaining to start.
Brian commented:
I'm excited about these new HD PPV channels. I just hope the content is a little more broad than it has been on the single HD PPV channel in the past.
