HBO has ordered a comedy series from Mike Judge (Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill) about Silicon Valley's tech boom.

The logline for the untitled series is: A half-hour comedy set in the high tech gold rush of modern Silicon Valley, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success.

The pilot was written by Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, who serve as executive producers along with Michael Rotenberg and Scott Rudin.

Starting in 2015, Sports Progammer Gains Marquee Matches from CBS as Another Property Migrates to Cable from Broadcast

After adding exclusive coverage of Wimbledon to its portfolio with last year’s fortnight, ESPN has aced a similar long-term deal for the U.S. Open tennis championships, starting in 2015.

ESPN has reached an agreement with the United States Tennis Association on an 11-year pact that gives its North and South American rights from the initial serve to championship point at the U.S. Open. Under its current deal that expires in 2014, ESPN has been televising about 100 hours annually from the Grand Slam event since 2009. That total will grow to around 130 with the new pact.

‘Familia de Circo,' ‘Divas del Azucar' Hail from ‘Cake Boss' Producers

Viacom-owned Tr3s, the network targeting Hispanic millennials, will premiere two reality series produced by Cake Boss producers High Noon Entertainment in the upcoming season, the network announced at its upfront presentation on Wednesday.

Familia de Circo follows a family-run circus consisting of five Mexican brothers, while Divas del Azucar looks inside a bakery business in Miami run by a Cuban mother and two daughters. The series are High Noon's first Spanish-language series.

USA Network will venture into the scripted comedy arena with the development of two half-hour sitcoms and one comedy pilot, the network announced Thursday in advance of its upfront presentation this afternoon.

"The major messaging for us is the expanison of the portfolio," USA Network co-president Jeff Wachtel told Multichannel News. "We've talked about entering the reality and comedy space and this is the year that we're really walking the walk."

TiVo has added a “What to Watch Now” dashboard to its iPad app that combines recommendations with personal preferences to create a handful of customizable, finely-filtered "feeds" to help viewers find that video needle in the haystack without exploring the vastness of the program guide.

Artists Frank Ocean and Beck lead nominations for MTV, VH1 and CMT’s fourth annual O Music Awards, premiering next month.

The online-based awards, which honor the artists, innovators and fans that are impacting music, technology and counter culture, will be livestreamed June 19 beginning at 7 p.m., with online voting (OMusicAwards.com) launching today (May 16) and running through May 21st, said MTV officials.

New York -- Actress/singer Jennifer Lopez will serve as Latino-targeted cable network NuvoTV’s new chief creative officer, the network announced during its upfront presentation here.

In her new role Lopez, who partnered with NuvoTV last September, will be involved in network programming and on-air decisions as well as the development of several original shows for the English-language network, according to NuvoTV CEO Michael Schwimmer.

New York -- Next month when ABC televises the 2013 NBA Finals, the pro basketball league's championship series will be presented by ESPN Deportes for the first time, the Spanish-language network announced here Wednesday evening during its upfront presentation.

The network said that a ESPN Deportes Sports Poll showed that 55% of Hispanic sports fans liked the NBA, ranking it among U.S. Latinos' top five sports. Last year's Finals were boosted by a 12% Hispanic viewership.
