Spending on TV is expected to increase 6.5% this year, with subscription TV growing 5.8% annually from 2011 to 2016 and broadcast TV, up 5.9% during that period, according to a new forecast from investment firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson.

Veronis Suhler says those spending levels haven't been seen since before the global economic downturn and that the growth is being driven by digital technology.
