Science Channel has ordered its first scripted feature, a movie about the aftermath of the space shuttle Challenger disaster starring William Hurt to premiere in November 2013.

73 Seconds: The Challenger Investigation follows physicist Richard Feynman (Hurt) as he cuts through cover-ups and red tape to uncover the disaster's true cause. Brian Dennehy, Bruce Greenwood and Joanne Whalley star in the BBC coproduction.

Arts cable network Ovation has added two new executives as part of a restructuring of its programming and marketing divisions.

Evan Minskoff has been named senior vice president and head of marketing and brand strategy, while Douglas Strasnick is the new senior vice president in charge of programming and content strategy.Minskoff had been head of branding for the Gilt Groupe. Strasnick comes from social media company EQAL.

WWE To Stream PPV Event On XBOX Consoles

The WWE is taking promotion of its April 7 WrestleMania 29 pay-per-view event to the streets of New York.

The grappling group hopes the outdoor promotional effort, coupled with a major marketing push on social media and the draw of the biggest media market, will help the event pin down more PPV buys than last year’s successful outing, which drew more than 1.2 million buys globally.

The event will take place in East Rutherford, N.J.’s MetLife Stadium, and the centerpiece is a rematch between WWE superstars The Rock and John Cena.

FXX Set for Sept. 2 Launch with Comedies, Aims at Younger Viewers

FX Networks announced that it will launch a new network, FXX, on Sept. 2 that will form a suite of three channels along with movie channel FXM, and is planning to program them with an ambitious slate of 25 original series, an amount on par with the major broadcast networks.

At an upfront presentation for advertisers, John Landgraf, president of FX Networks, said the three channels will carry the FX brand and personality. Regardless of genre, “you know an FX original when you see it,” Landgraf said.
