NCTC Reorg Brings in Meyka as Hughes Shifts Role
LENEXA, KAN.— The National Cable Television Cooperative
has hired Judy Meyka, a cable-industry veteran,
as executive vice president of programming, overseeing
all programming negotiations, amid some organizational
changes undertaken as CEO Rich Fickle approaches one
year on the job.
Frank Hughes, the longtime senior vice president of programming,
will become SVP of member services.
Meyka has most recently been a consultant, but in
prior years worked at Adelphia Communications, AT&T
Broadband and MediaOne. NCTC said that in addition to
negotiating the various renewals, NCTC will increase its
focus on advanced video and over-the-top-related rights for
members.
The co-op also said chief financial officer Corey McCarthy
will take on the additional role of senior VP of business
development.
NAMIC Names ’12 Next Generation Leaders, Luminaries
NEW YORK — The National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in
Communications (NAMIC) has identified the winners of the
2012 Next Generation Leaders Awards.
This year’s recipients are Rosalyn Durant, vice president,
ESPNU and ESPNHS, ESPN; Sree Kotay, senior vice
president, chief software architect, Comcast; Fernando Laguarda,
vice president of external affairs, and policy counselor,
Time Warner Cable; and Pawan Mehra, co-founder
and executive vice president, Améredia.
The awards will be presented at the NAMIC Annual
Awards Breakfast scheduled for Wednesday, May 23, 7:30-
9 a.m. at the Westin Boston Waterfront in Boston, during
the annual Cable Show convention.
A larger group of NAMIC Luminaries will also be recognized
at the ceremony.
WICT Selects Rising Leaders Program Participants
NEW YORK — Women in Cable Telecommunications has
picked 120 participants for its “Rising Leaders Program,” a
training program supported by the Walter Kaitz Foundation,
Comcast, Suddenlink Communications and Turner Broadcasting
System.
The year-long program includes instruction on team building,
strategy and developing a leadership plan. “WICT’s
Rising Leaders Program prepares cable’s next generation
of leaders to take on the challenges they will face in a demanding
and dynamic industry,” Christina Vergara, WICT VP
of education and program development, said in announcing
the latest class.
