Charter Opts for Bypass
Charter Communications Inc. will deploy Wireless Bypass Inc.’s "Wireless Line Extension" technology under an agreement announced Wednesday.
Charter began deploying "DL-5800" strand mounted devices during the first quarter, becoming the first broadband-network operator to adopt the WLE technology platform, the MSO said.
The technology expands Charter’s footprint into the small and medium enterprise-data market using existing cable infrastructure by transporting Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification channels wirelessly from the cable plant to customer sites and redistributing them to cable modems.
