Copps Rallies for Cause
He’s baaack! Michael Copps, the FCC’s most fiery
critic of consolidation, has been charged with reenergizing
Common Cause’s pushback against media
consolidation.
Armed with $500,000 in funding, most of it
from the Ford Foundation, Copps’ efforts will include
talking up editorial boards and holding events
across the country, probably on a monthly basis,
starting in the fourth quarter, according to Common
Cause president Bob Edgar.
Copps will be working both in Washington, D.C.,
and with Common Cause’s 35 chapters across the
country.
