MSGN, WNBC, YES Lead NY Emmy Nominations

MSG Network set the pace with 60 nominations for the 54th Annual New York Emmy Awards, ahead of WNBC-TV and the YES Network.
The regional sports network, home to the New York Knicks and Rangers, led the way with nods with the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the fourth year in a row. Coupled with seven for sister network MSG Plus and four for MSG Interactive, MSG Media, which also includes national music service Fuse, counted 71 nominations.
Among MSG nominees were Walt "Clyde" Frazier for on-camera talent: sports analyst and technical achievement for MSG 3D: First 3D Hockey Telecast last March. YES, the regional home to the New York Yankees, also earned New York Emmy nods in that category for its 3D coverage of Bronx Bombers-Seattle Mariners last July, as well as its YES-Mo slow motion replays. Studio host Bob Lorenz is seeking his third consecutive Emmy in that on-camera talent category.
Cablevision Systems Corp.'s local media services -- News 12 Networks, MSG Varsity and Newsday.com -- combined to tally 141 New York Emmy nominations, while SNY, the RSN home to the New York Mets, garnered 23 nods.
Cablevision's Emmy nod collection included 35 apiece for its New 12 Connecticut outfit and 25 apiece for News 12 Long Island and News 12 Westchester, including five for reporter and on-air personality Tara Rosenblum. High schools sports network MSG Varsity acquitted itself quite favorably in its rookie year with 32 nominations in a host of categories.
Among SNY nods were best play-by-play for Gary Cohen (Mets), best analyst for Ray analyst (New York Jets) and program special: live sports event for "Jerry Seinfeld Visit."
For its part, local news outfit New York 1 News grabbed a pair of nominations for promo and graphics around its "Rail and Road Report," while FiOS News 1 had four.
The New York Emmy Awards recognize television and advanced media programs that were produced for telecast in New York state and northern New Jersey, and aired between Sept. 1, 2009 and August 31, 2010.
The winners will be announced April 3, 2011 at the 54th annual New York Emmy Awards ceremony at The Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
