BRIGHTSTAR
Wireless-industry services provider Brightstar has
named Mark Shockley as president, U.S. and Canada.
He comes from Motorola Mobility, where he was senior
VP and GM, global go-to-market, mobile devices.
CNN
Athena Jones has joined CNN as a Washington, D.C.-
based general assignment correspondent, She comes
from NBC, where she was a White House producer.
DISCOVERY
Fred Poston has been named vice president, West
Coast media operations at Discovery Communications,
responsible for all aspects of operations including
network launches. He was VP, operations of The Hub,
the Discovery-Hasbro joint venture.
Also, Guhan Selvaretnam was named senior vice president,
product, content and operations at Discovery Digital
Media. He comes from Turner Broadcasting System,
where he was VP and new products group lead.
EARTHLINK
EarthLink has added Mae Squier-Dow as president,
premier business solutions and Vikram Desai as president,
national accounts. Also, Brian Fink was promoted
to executive vice president, managed services.
INFORMA
Nick Thomas has joined Informa Telecoms & Media
as principal analyst covering TV and digital media. He
comes from Forrester Research.
MGM
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has elevated Chris Ottinger as
president, international television distribution and acquisitions.
He had been executive VP, worldwide television.
Also, MGM has tapped Vicky Gregorian as senior vice
president, domestic television distribution; Susan Hummel
as senior vice president, U.S. basic cable and Canada
television; Damien Marin as senior vice president, pay
television and digital media; and Vinicio Espinosa as vice
president, Latin American television distribution.
NAT GEO
National Geographic Channel has added Kim Woodard
and Kevin Mohs as vice president, development and production.
Woodard was promoted from senior executive
producer and executive in chard of National Geographic
Television’s New York production office; Mohs comes
from Discovery Channel, where he was VP, production.
NDS
Dave Habiger was named CEO of London-based NDS
Group Ltd. He is the former CEO of Sonic Solutions.
Also, Abe Peled was named NDS’s executive chairman.
He had been CEO of the company.
OXYGEN MEDIA
Galen Jones has been named senior vice president, Oxygen
Research, at Oxygen Media. Most recently a consultant,
he had been executive vice president, planning
and research, at Court TV.
SNELL
Craig Turner was named vice president, customer support,
at Burbank, Calif.-based Snell. He most recently
served as chief engineer of several TV stations, including
WRAL-TV in Durham, N.C.
Also, Snell added Lang Cooksey as senior automation
product specialist. He was a senior automation product
specialist at Harris.
And Jeremy Bradbury has been tapped as field automation
engineer. He had been chief engineer of Lockwood
Broadcast Group’s network operations center.
STYLE
Megan Canavan has been named chief financial officer
of the Style Network, a new post at the NBCUniversalowned
channel. She comes from NBC News, where she
was VP, finance.
TIDALTV
Video advertising, optimization and yield-management
solutions firm TidalTV has added Todd Ralph as Detroit
sales director; Chris Robertiello as a Los Angeles-based
account executive; and Mary Gray as sales director,
Northwest region, based in San Francisco.
