• Verizon announced planned capital investment of approximately $86 million in new network technology for Rhode Island in 2008. The plan would extend FiOS TV service to an additional 10 communities and expands its Providence-based Fiber Solutions Center, where at least 50 more technicians and customer service representatives will be hired.

• Verizon last week began taking orders for FiOS TV three New York communities: the villages of Roslyn Harbor on Long Island, Wappingers Falls in Dutchess County, and the village of Plattekill and portions of the village of Wallkill within the town of Newburgh in Orange County.

• Verizon was granted cable franchises in the 6,000-household community of Walpole, Mass.

• India's IOL Netcom selected Verimatrix as the content security provider for its on-demand IPTV service with more than 250,000 subscribers and will offer premium MPEG-4 content to PCs through Verimatrix’s ViewRight PC Player.

• IPTVDomains.com said it will auction six IPTV-related Internet domain names: IPTVBox.com, IPTVBoxes.com, IPTVSetTopBox.com, IPTVSetTopBoxes.com, IPTVSetTop.com and SetTop-Boxes.com.
