Motorola Cuts MPEG-4 Encode Rates

• NHL Network’s 24-hour suite of hockey in HD and SD will be available to SES Americom's IP-PRIME operators in the United States.

• TeliaSonera has deployed Verimatrix's Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for its IPTV services in the Nordic region, Estonia and Lithuania.

• Verizon began offering FiOS TV in six more New Jersey cities and towns: Bayonne, West New York, Perth Amboy, Plainfield, Loch Arbour and Lakewood.

• Verizon won cable franchise agreements from the New York towns of Amherst and Hamburg, and the Nassau County village of Lawrence; and the Massachussetts towns of Ashland and Plymouth.

• Ericsson said it would demonstrate what it claimed was the world's first 10-Gbps Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) system for IPTV at NXTcomm08 in Las Vegas.

• Amino's AmiNET130 set-top box has been certified for the Minerva Networks IPTV software platform.

• Verimatrix announced VCAS for Mobile TV to let operators offer pay-TV services over mobile phones and other mobile Internet devices.

• UTStarcom will supply its RollingStream IPTV solution to Sri Lanka Telecom Public Ltd. Co. (SLT), the country's largest tier-one wireline and incumbent operator.
