  • FiOS TV Pace Falls Off In Q2
    Verizon Communications signed up a net 176,000 FiOS TV subscribers in the second quarter, bringing that customer count to 1.4 million to date, but the additions were below the 263,000 new video entrants the telco gained in the first three months of the year. more » » »

    • AT&T Pushes U-verse TV Over Half-Million Mark
      AT&T kept the U-verse TV train chugging along, reaching 549,000 customers for the cable-competitive IPTV service at the end of the second quarter, although the telco continued to post significant losses in its traditional access-line business and saw weak growth in broadband. more » » »

          • Verizon will phase out FiOS TV analog channels in Florida starting Aug. 18.

          • Scandinavian telecom operator Telenor selected Thomson middleware, VOD servers and set-top boxes for deployment of IPTV services in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

          • Verizon announced that Andres Irlando, currently vice president of public policy, has been appointed senior vice president of the New York region, which includes Connecticut. Irlando succeeds Monica Azare, who was tapped recently to lead Verizon's corporate employee communications function.

          • Verizon added 15 new HD and 7 new standard-definition channels for FiOS TV customers in Oregon, including CNN HD, CNBC HD, Bravo HD and USA Network HD.

          • IPTV Network Services LLC, a consortium of several IPTV service providers in Utah, has deployed Latens' ECOsystem middleware and conditional access.

          • Verizon received video franchises from the cities of Portsmouth, Va., and Northborough, Mass.

          • Russia's Sistema Mass Media (SMM) has selected the NDS Unified Headend to manage and protect TV content delivery to subscribers across both IP and mobile networks.
