Verizon is expanding its offer of a free Sharp Aquos 19-inch LCD HDTV to new FiOS triple-play subscribers in at least five more states, after kicking off the signup incentive program last month in the New York metro area.

The telco began promoting the offer Oct. 15 in its New York, New Jersey and southern Connecticut markets. Verizon Touts NFL Games Online

For the second year, Verizon will offer NFL Network’s eight live Thursday and Saturday primetime games online for no additional cost to customers who subscribe to both its broadband and TV services.

New for Verizon subs this season: The NFL Network Game Extra will provide a “virtual control booth” to let viewers select one of four camera angles, or all four angles simultaneously in a split-screen. Verizon is the only Internet service provider to deliver NFL Network programming over broadband. The NFL Network Game Extra service is available to customers who subscribe to either Verizon FiOS Internet or Verizon digital subscriber line service, as well as either FiOS TV or DirecTV through Verizon.

But the complaints, cropping up on consumer Web sites such as The Consumerist, are a misunderstanding, said Bobbi Henson, Verizon media director.

Verizon has changed its notification policy on changes to service terms, she explained. Instead of simply posting new TOS language, Verizon will reach out to consumers via email to direct them to the company Web site. This email was to tell consumers they will receive these emails with each change in the future. Another change in the notice notes that Verizon is revising its limited liability, giving consumers more options in disputes with the provider, Henson said.
