iControl Clicks With Cloud Cameras

iControl Networks, a provider of connected home technologies that has deals with several major cable operators, said it’s adding cloud-based video cameras to its repitorire via a partnership with Sercomm.

iControl said the new cloud camera technology is now available as part of its iControl’s Connect platform, and supported by devices from Sercomm. The technology is currently available in standard-definition day and night vision cameras outfitted with passive infrared (PIR) motion sensing technology. High-definition versions will launch this summer, the company said.

“Video is a major driver for most consumers with a connected home solution,” said Paul Dawes, executive vice president and general manager at iControl, in a statement. “We recognized that priority and are pleased to partner with Sercomm to offer the most innovative and inexpensive video technology possible. Our video offering combines bank-grade encryption with high frame rate video to provide what we believe is the best solution for the connected home security market.”

Sercomm’s quick-install cameras support encrypted H.264 live streaming video and an event-based video capture feature that is activated through the built-in motion sensing technology, security alarm activation or any detected change by any sensor on the home security/automation system. iControl said encrypted video from the Sercomm cameras are routed securely to the cloud via the user’s home WiFi network.

Sercomm is a member of iControl’s OpenHome Partner Program. iControl expanded the program to device manufacturers late last year.

iControl’s cable partners include Rogers Communications, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, and Comporium, among others.
