Why, Fox, Why? (Dollhouse Will Air on Fridays)
Scifi fans, as I’ve said before, have memories like elephants. Forty years later, fans still hold a grudge against NBC for nixing Star Trek: TOS (the original series) by shifting the series from Thursday to Friday.
In the fall of 2002, Fox consigned Joss Whedon’s Firefly - another cult fave - to Friday nights. Worse, they pre-empted the series for sporting events, aired episodes out of order, and then finally cancelled it
Now, 2009 is starting to feel like a deja-vu. TVWeek’s Josel Adalian reports on the Fox mid-season shuffle. Joss Whedon’s newest endeavor, the futuristic Dollhouse, will air on Friday’s at 9p.
In addition, the network is giving first-year drama “Fringe” a major boost by scheduling it behind the Tuesday night edition of “American Idol.” New drama “Lie to Me” also will get an “Idol” lead-in, landing behind the Wednesday edition of the reality powerhouse.
Not getting “Idol”-ized: Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse,” which will air Fridays at 9 p.m. starting Feb. 13. Its lead-in will be “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” which is shifting from Mondays to Fridays.
And that’s Friday the 13th, as tweetpeep Zap2itDaniel pointed out. Here’s the Dollhouse preview.
