MSNBC To Air First Democratic Presidential Debate Post the N.H. Primary

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams will moderate a debate among the Democratic presidential candidates next Tuesday night live on MSNBC from the Cashman Center in Las Vegas, officials said Friday.

Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Sen. John Edwards will participate in the debate, which will focus on issues important to minority voters.

Malone Not Selling Shares Back to News Corp.

New York -- Liberty Media Corp. chairman John Malone disappointed a few investment bankers Tuesday when he told an audience at a industry conference that he would prefer not to dispose of his 17% voting interest in News Corp. in a cash-rich split-off.

Most analysts have anticipated that Malone -- who boosted his voting stake in News Corp. late last year from 9% to 17% by swapping nonvoting shares with Merrill Lynch International -- would sell the voting shares back to News Corp. for cash and a small operating asset.

Haskins Leaving Lifetime

Rick Haskins is closing the chapter of his life at Lifetime.

With the women’s-targeted company since 1999, Haskins will exit his post as executive vice president and general manager at Lifetime Entertainment Services at the end of July.

A marketing executive by trade, Haskins has been heading Lifetime’s programming for the past 15 months, helping to lead a rebound that has seen the network record eight straight months of ratings advances.

History Eyes Documentaries for ’10 Days’

The History Channel will air a string of documentaries next year under the banner, “10 Days That Changed America.”

Airing sometime in the first half of 2006, the documentary series will focus on 10 days in American history as envisioned through 10 powerful documentaries that will be written, produced and directed by 10 award-winning filmmakers, according to History president Dan Davids.
