Continuing to augment the distribution lineup for its Development League, the NBA has scored a deal with YouTube that will showcase 350 of the circuit’s contests during the 2012-13 season.

The games will be available the NBA D-League YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/nbadleague and through a YouTube video player on the league's at www.nba.com/dleague.

In a partial defeat and partial victory for the company, the FCC has ruled that NBCU cannot exclude films less than a year old from its Comcast/NBCUniversal Order benchmark condition requiring the programmer to make its content available to competing online video distributors if that distributor gets comparable fare from one of NBCU's peers not affiliated with that OVD.

But the commission also said that requirement does not extend to such programming or other programming that would breach particular exclusive licensing agreements common to the industry.

CBS, which has been very conservative in allowing its network programming to be viewed over the internet, says it is considering licensing episodes of past seasons of current series to companies like Netflix and Amazon.
On CBS’ third-quarter earnings call with analysts Wednesday, CEO Les Moonves said licensing those episodes of current series could generate “significant new high margin revenue for the company.”

The Nook Media subsidiary of Barnes & Noble has announced that it has inked content licensing deals for its new Nook Video service with a number of major studios, including NBCUniversal and 20th Century Fox Home.

The deal mean that purchasers of the new Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets that are scheduled to begin shipping this week will have access to "thousands of movies and TV shows" in Nook Video catalog.
