Friends of Aereo are lining up in court to back its service for delivering broadcast TV to iPhones and other screens.

Public Knowledge earlier signaled its plans to file an amicus (friend of the court) brief supporting the Barry Diller-backed service and the Computer and Communications Industry Association and Internet Association have already filed a brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit backing Aereo and opposing broadcasters' petition for an injunction from that court.

Cable Leads in 'Most Helpful' Category; Internet Adds Biggest Percentage Gains Since January

Cable and local TV newscasts are the leading sources of campaign news in the run-up to election day, according to the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism.
According to a just-released study, 41% of U.S. adults surveyed said they regularly get campaign news from cable and 38% said they regularly get campaign news from local TV. That was followed by the Internet (36%), network newscasts (31%), local newspapers 23% and national newspapers 13%.

An average of 5.2 million viewers watched Felix Baumgartner's historic space jump on Sunday on Discovery Channel and Velocity, setting ratings marks for both networks.
Velocity's broadcast of Space Jump Live, which covered the Red Bull Stratos mission featuring Baumgartner's record-breaking jump from 125,000 feet above the Earth, turned in the one-year-old network's most-watched telecast ever, attracting 991,000 total viewers. It also set new high ratings marks for the channel, including in households (0.73) and among adults 25 to 54 (0.52).
