Cablevision Joins DirecTV, Verizon In Imposing Fees

Add Cablevision Systems to the list of multichannel-TV companies adding a $2.98 additional monthly fee to help cover the rising cost of sports programming.

Cablevision is the third pay TV provider to slap an additional fee on customers to off - set high sports-channel license fees, which Cablevision claims account for one-third of its overall content costs.

Fox Networks has reached a deal with Cox Communications under which the MSO will carry Utilisima and a Spanish-language version of BabyTV on packages in select western markets

The commercial-free, toddler-themed BabyTV and the women’s-targeted lifestyle service Utilisima will launch Feb 26 in San Diego, Orange County, Palos Verdes, Santa Barbara, Phoenix and Las Vegas on Cox’s Paquete Latino, as well as El Mix, an English- and Spanish-language combo offering.

Deal terms were not disclosed.
