Academic, author and network neutrality rule skeptic Christopher Yoo tells Multichannel News that he is not a candidate for the FCC Republican seat being vacated by Robert McDowell, at least not now.

Sources had said that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who is vetting candidates for the post, was looking at academics, and one source said Yoo's name had surfaced as one of those. Yoo confirmed there had been interest.

The Parents Television Council has joined with Morality in Media and close to a hundred other groups to try and put congressional pressure on the FCC to back off of its proposal to codify its pursuit of only "egregious" indecency complaints.

The groups sent a letter to the committees overseeing the FCC Wednesday asking them to oppose any change that would weaken enforcement.

NBCUniversal is employing the Secret Service, or at least a top former Secret Service agent, to keep its employees and businesses safe.

NBCU will announce Tuesday that it has created the post of SVP, chief security officer, to be filled by Thomas McCarthy. McCarthy has been special agent in charge of the division protecting vice president Joe Biden.
